Kainé's Shack is an unmarked location in NieR:Automata. Encountered at the end of Emil's Memories is a repurposed shipping container that resembles the one Kainé used to live in during Nier's time thousands of year back, down to her grandmother's portrait in the same spot. Characteristic of the area are the dozens of Lunar Tears surrounding the shack.
After waking up from the collapsing platform and witnessing the death of 2B in Chapter 13, 9S may choose to return here and make a memorial grave for 2B.
Location[]
The shack is locked until the player acquires the Elevator Key. To get it, simply follow the quest steps to Emil's Memories until all the Lunar Tears are collected. Once the last Lunar Tear has been found, Emil will award the player with the key to the elevator, granting 2B and 9S access to the basement.
Points of Interest[]
Notes[]
- Kainé (Salvation) will be played throughout the visit.
- When visiting the location for the first time, Emil will discuss the origin of the cave and his memories.
- Project Gestalt Report 10 is in the locked chest behind the shack. Requires 9S to unlock.
Trivia[]
- Kainé herself is never referred to by name until Emil's Determination, where Emil manages to remember some of his most precious memories. The quest itself can only be found when all weapons have been collected and upgraded to max level.
- After finding the last Lunar Tear, Emil refers to this area as "[a] place very special to him", making him one of the few to remember Nier despite being wiped out of existence.
- Lunar Tears are also known as White Moonflowers in NieR RepliCant and NieR Gestalt. The flower has an extremely low chance of being successfully cultivated, and requires several hybridized variants of moonflowers that take 24 real-time hours by themselves to grow. Said variants also have a low chance of sprouting.
- After completing a second playthrough and acquiring Ending B, Kainé’s Shack appears in the background of the title screen.
