The Trial of Sand is a location in NieR:Automata added in the 3C3C1D119440927 DLC. It is one of three arenas the player can use to test their skills and earn rewards, and alongside the others (Gambler's Colosseum and Underground Colosseum), is required to be partially beaten to progress the Mysterious Letter quest.

Location

The colosseum entrance can be located a distance away from the Desert Zone: Center Transporter and requires the player to have started the quest Mysterious Letter, which can only be obtained by purchasing and downloading the 3C3C1D119440927 DLC content.

    Notes

    • The machine lifeform guarding the entrance will blow itself up upon being asked about the arena if the player does not have the DLC installed, dropping basic resources.
    • The Masked Receptionist talks about various rules which must be kept in accordance with, and after completing each subsequent trial delves into the history of the arena and mentions a fallen kingdom and past civilization.

    Trivia

    • The arena is the same one used in the Debug mode, where players can freely test gear and combos.
