Emil's Shop is a merchant in NieR:Automata. Encountered after facing A2 at the Forest Castle, he can be found driving around the City Ruins on multiple routes that tends to offer higher-end items such as chips, materials, and even a couple of exclusive weapons.

Location[]

There are three possibilities for Emil's shop, randomly chosen whenever a player character enters the city map by any means:

  • He does not spawn at all.
  • He spawns in his "slow" pattern—this will have him start out either in the large open square near the overpass to the Abandoned Factory, or right in front of the entrance to the Desert Zone. In this pattern he will randomly select selling either low-grade materials, or +3 Plug-in Chips. In this pattern, he travels slowly and sings his song at normal speed.
  • He spawns in his "fast" pattern, spawning immediately outside the Resistance Camp. In this pattern, he randomly selects between selling the Type-3 Fists, Angel's Folly and Dress Module along with high-grade materials later in the game, or +6 Plug-In Chips. He moves extremely quickly, and his theme song is significantly sped up.

It is worth noting that the very first time a character uses Emil's shop, if they immediately speak to him again they will often get whichever shop menu they did not get the first time. It is therefore a good idea to hold off on using the store until the player stops him in front of the Resistance Camp.

As with any merchant, chips bought from Emil will always have the highest possible storage cost for their rank.

Notes[]

  • A sure-fire strategy to spawn his shop goes as follows (given Chapter Select has been unlocked):
    1. Select Chapter 14-1, then head to the nearby teleporter once A2 gets up. From here, teleport to the "Desert: Camp" access point.
    2.  Run towards the City Ruins and buy something from Emil, who should be right at the desert entrance. 
    3.  After buying something, run to the Resistance Camp. Emil should now be on the route near the camp. Shoot him down and he should have the weapon in stock, provided that the "Wayyy Bored" mail from Emil has been read.  
    4.  If the mail isn't present in the inbox, start running back towards the Desert Zone instead. The mail should trigger before reaching the desert. Simply read the mail at a teleporter, and then save the game. From here, simply repeat the strategy in the above bullet point.
