The Beached Shipwreck is a location exclusive to NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139.... Found along Seafront's hidden beach after the timeskip, the area serves to introduce Louise, and acts as a setpiece for her boss fight.

Overview[]

While present in Seafront as soon as the player finishes the second half's introductory sequence in the Village, the wreck itself cannot be interacted with until after several key fragments have been acquired. During this period, the Red-Bag Man will end up missing from his post at the ferry, leading Popola to later request that his absence be investigated. Later on, as the party inspects the ship, Grimoire Weiss points out a weak spot at the ship's rear that they could enter through, and the player will be given the option to prepare thoroughly before entering.

Inside the wreck are an assortment of items that can be inspected—these range from bitten apples, a lantern to navigate dark areas with, and written records that both reveal its original purpose as a vessel for slaves, along with an account of a crewmember's experience of Louise's rampage inside the ship, with the latter's last few entries having been torn apart—or bitten off from Weiss's perspective. The ship's hull is where several corpses are stumbled upon, including the Red-Bag Man's remains, found by accident after crashing down from the upper level's creaky flooring.

Leaving the hull, the party regroups and finds Louise further up, with the town's postman following suit. As Kainé fails to warn the postman in time, Louise lets out a shriek, and a number of tentacles burst forth from all over the ship's interior, from which the player must fight their way out of for them to fend off the ensuing assault from the surface.

Points of Interest[]

Wrecked Ship Mailbox 122
Situated outside Louise's room, the area is identified as "Wrecked Ship Interior" in the save menu.

Red Eye 122 Immediately identified by Kainé as a dangerous foe, the little Shade wastes no time in displaying her strength after being uncovered.

Phase 1-122
Atop the ship, Louise lets loose a barrage of orbs, tentacles, and shrieks, and the faces at the end of her arms must be downed to stun her temporarily.

Phase 2-122
For the game's first two playthroughs, the fight occurs such that the party fails to prevent her from screaming, knocking them out in the process.

Louise 3-122
An alternate sequence plays out after having viewed Endings A and B, where the party manages to climb atop Louise's outer shell and take down her humanoid core up close.

Ship Ledger 122
A record of the ship's cargo exists intact, with said cargo revealed to be slaves upon further reading.

Ship Journal 122
A crewmember's written account can be interacted with. Reading through the rest of its entries requires examining the journal several times.

Red-Bag Death 122
Stumbling in the dark for a brief period, Nier reacquires the lantern; lighting up the scene around him reveals the Red-Bag Man's fate.

Notes[]

  • Harvest points at Seafront will be unavailable until after Louise is defeated, along with the Red-Bag Man's substitute at each ferry.
  • Aside from the Hold and Passageway Keys, game files also list Goat and Lizard Keys not present in the final product. Their descriptions read thus:
    • Goat Key: A key found on the wrecked ship. An image of two goats descending a mountain is carved into it.
    • Lizard Key: A key found on the wrecked ship. An image of four lizards curled around each other is carved into it.
    • Judging from the markings found on the door to Louise's room, it would appear that four keys were initially needed to unlock it. Presumably cut for pacing reasons.
  • Unlike other areas in-game with their map data disabled/unavailable by default (e.g. Tokyo, Sleeping Beauty), no map data exists for the ship's interior.
