Weapons are used by YoRHa Units 2B, 9S and A2 in their fight against the Machines in Nier: Automata. For the majority of the game, most of the weapons are inaccessible due to being only unlockable in Route B. Each weapon, albeit utilising the same move set for each class, have a unique ability that sets them apart; making for many possible combinations. The Combat models 2B and A2, for the most part, use the same weapon combos, while 9S focuses on weaker light attacks and hacking: true to him being a scanner model.

List of Weapons Edit

Small Swords Edit

Although this weapon types' damage is on the short side of the spectrum, pairing it with equally fast or slower, methodical weapons allow for many set ups; be it for quick bursts or well-balanced strikes.

Large Swords Edit

As the name suggests, this weapon class specialises on slower, but more powerful strikes: light attacks that utilise vertical motion while heavy attacks focus on wide, horizontal swings. This types slow attacks often lead the user wide open which makes them less than ideal for Hard and Very Hard difficulty. It is best paired with smaller weapons to strike a maintained balance between speed and strength.

There are a total of 9 Large Swords to be found throughout the world.

Spears Edit

Spears are weapons that focuses on long-reaching thrusts/pokes that can let you attack at a safe distance. They're slightly slower than small swords, but this classes sweeping attacks can provide excellent crows control. Pairing a spear with a small sword can allow for aggressive pushing and quick bursts of damage because of the forward momentum when following up with a heavy attack. They are also the ideal weapon for 9S to use, as he can throw them with deadly precision, range and damage.

A total of 9 spears can be found throughout the world.

Combat Bracers Edit

Combat Bracers, while having lower damage, are incredibly swift, multi-hitting weapons that fluidly mix well with any other weapon type. Light attacks consist of fast fist and leg motion and heavy attacks effortlessly toss the enemy into the air with uppercuts and smashes. Pairing combat bracers with other weapon types can cater towards certain play styles; small swords can allow for spacing, large swords can make you swing it like a baseball bat and so on.

This is one of the best weapon types for A2, as it features the quickest taunt animation for her and is the second best to use for 9S.

A total of 9 combat bracers can be found throughout the world.
