YoRHa: Pearl Harbor Descent Record Volume 1 is the first volume of the YoRHa: Pearl Harbor Descent Record manga series set before the events of NieR:Automata.

Synopsis[]

The distant future. Invaders from another world attack without warning, unleashing a new type of threat: weapons known as "machine lifeforms." In the face of this insurmountable peril, mankind is driven from Earth and takes refuge on the Moon.

It is the year 11941, and the long war against the machines rages on. In an attempt to break the deadlock, the Council of Humanity forms a new infantry unit of female androids: YoRHa. Deployed to the planet’s surface, these soldiers now fight to recapture Earth for the glory of mankind...

Summary[]

Chapter 1[]

YoRHa units are sent on a mission to attack Johnston Island. During the mission, several units are killed including the captain No.1. As a result, No.2 is promoted to captain. Four YoRHa units survive the attack, Attacker No.2, Attacker No.4, Gunner No.16, and Scanner No.21.

Attacker No.2 calls command to ask for the mission to be cancelled but is denied. Scanner NO. 21 then detects approximately 128,000 enemy machine units headed to their position. Combat begins

Chapter 2[]

During combat, a group of Resistance members led by Captain Rose, and including Lily, appear and attack the machines, rescuing the YoRHa members and causing the machines to retreat. The Resistance members turn their guns on the YoRHa units, asking who they are.

Chapter 3[]

A confrontation nearly happens between the resistance members and the YoRHa units, but is defused. The members of the Resistance explain they were sent down on the 8th Descent over 200 years ago. The operation failed with the machine resistance being was far larger than expected. They were abandoned by command, similar to the YoRHa units.

Back on the Bunker, Futaba asks The Commander who the Resistance are. After, the commander suggests Futaba get a checkup. We then see two girls talking to each other, surprised that the androids didn't kill each other. They then say the Androids should just kill each other.

Chapter 4[]

The Resistance and YoRHa members discuss working together to destroy a machine base. They discuss the different types of Android models on each team. The two groups get into a fight after learning the Resistance members deserted their mission.
