"You felt sorry for me. And I bet you don't have the first clue how alone that made me feel."
— No.3 Infected by a Logic Virus

YoRHa Type A No.3 is one of the eight leading characters in the NieR:Automata YoRHa Boys stage play, who was also later included in the novel by the same name.

Story[]

(To be added.)

Personality[]

Seemingly carefree and optimistic to a fault, No.3 is a brash individual that often displays impulsive and reckless tendencies—these shortcomings causing him to be labeled ignorant by many of his comrades. He prefers living in the moment and making decisions based on his personal feelings, which proves problematic when his judgement conflicts with others as he is stubborn by nature and despises the thought of losing even over small things.

Being heavily driven by his own emotion, it is noteworthy that No.3 is also short-tempered, easily taking the comments of other to heart even when they may not be intended the way he believes. Over time the insults of his comrades—most notably No.4—create a feeling of deep insecurity and inferiority within No.3. However instead of addressing the issue at hand, No.3 chooses to repress his feelings, only revealing them in the moments leading to his final death. In that time, No.3 also states that the only thing he had ever wanted in his life was to be No.4's equal, as he felt that no matter his efforts, No.4 would always perceive him as lesser than—which was never truly No.4's outlook.

Trivia[]

  • In an interview, Shoji Masato described his most memorable moment in the play's production being when he broke his prop sword in one hit during the first in-costume rehearsal—ironically in character on his part. Preceding the explanation, Shoji showed a drawing of the Type-3 Sword being cracked in half.[1]
